What is so special about the internet? What is wrong with the internet? How does the internet change audiences?

Armond: Tonight on the Interneto show we have an internet, Viraj Jenju specialised who has come in to be interviewed exclusively by me, Armond Shkupi. Please welcome Viraj!

Viraj; Thank you, Thank you (wave at audience, blow kiss)

Armond; welcome viraj and thank you for dropping by.

Viraj: ah the pleasures all mine.

Armond: well you’re obviously not here for a chit chat lets get straight to the questions. What exactly is the internet?

Viraj: The internet is a global network of computers that works much like the postal system, only at sub-second speeds. Just as the postal service enables people to send one another envelopes containing messages, the internet enables computers to send one another small packets of digital data.

Armond: And how was the internet created, and by who?

Viraj: Unlike technologies such as the light bulb or the telephone, the Internet has no single “inventor.” Instead, it has evolved over time. The Internet got its start in the United States more than 50 years ago as a government weapon in the Cold War. For years, scientists and researchers used it to communicate and share data with one another. Today, we use the Internet for almost everything, and for many people it would be impossible to imagine life without it.

Armond: right, and what makes the internet so special exactly?

Viraj: Well the internet is special in many ways. It’s such a large data base where you can do just about anything. It's interactive, meaning that unlike TV anyone can use it and post what they want. People can now connect using social networks, but also a vast majority of the world's knowledge is accessible to anyone making it very useful to students and people seeking information.

Armond: So how do you think the internet changes or influences audiences?

Viraj: Well because the internet is so big and so many people use it, it can have many effects on everyone that uses. For example people before the internet and Wikipdia, students had to get their information from a library; however an issue with this is that a lot of what you use on the internet can be untrue, so you need to be careful about what you see online. People also argue that the internet is making people a lot more anti-social as no one talks to each other anymore, they just tweet and text!.

Armond: That brings me on to my next question, What is wrong with the internet?

Viraj: Well as amazing as it is, the internet does have dangers. Like I said about false information, there are many other things too. For example computer viruses now exist because of the internet, and people can access your personal information and even use it for identity fraud and access your bank accounts. Because the internet is so free people post whatever they want, and unfortunately some people post hateful and offensive things on blogs and social networks. Young children can also be exposed to many explicit and harmful videos online too which is why setting up parental blocks can be useful.

Armond: Wow, some people say that everything you do on the internet is tracked, is this true?

Viraj: Yes definitely, your broadband providers know pretty much everything you’re looking at through your IP address, even Google can trace what people have searched. One thing you can do is delete your cookies and internet history but your internet provider can still view it if they want to and may put in advertisements that relate to your searches.
